I have always been a huge fan of Rothko’s abstract paintings and so not including one in my virtual exhibition would have made no sense. This piece I chose because of the extensive use of yellow paint that it incorporates. Yellow is supposedly a ‘happy colour’ and although this, the painting has something slightly upsetting about it. But once again here will each and every person have different interpretations of what the painting depicts. However it is an interesting piece because of the contradicting feelings that it gives me.
